Customs – 577 billion CFA francs in revenue achieved in 2015

Senegalese Customs has achieved a turnover of 577 billion CFA francs in revenue in 2015, an increase of 32 billion, compared to 2014, announced Monday its General Director Pape Ousmane GUEYE, during an interview RTS as a prelude to the World Customs Day, celebrated on January 26th. This year (2015) we have a turnover of 577 billion CFA francs and compared to 2014, we have an increase of more than 32 billion. Every year we come to improve our revenue. Today, the purpose is to computerize all customs offices on the extent of Senegal. In principle, from June 2016, if you have to export goods, to Mali, across the stage, you will have computers, “said the General Director of Customs Pape Ousmane GUEYE. The economical operations in Senegal took a volume such that it is “unthinkable” according to the General Director of Customs, to process these transactions manually. “It is in this context that the World Customs Organization (WCO) is part forever to find tools to move towards greater facilitation towards more progress to go faster in processing trade”, he added. Senegal is a country leader in information technology. Since 1990, we work on a computerized system called GAINDE (Automated management of customs information). “In recent years we are now working at a completely paperless customs clearance throughout the scene. This means that we will move towards paperless. So all procedures will be automated “said Pape Ousmane GUEYE. In terms of results, the General Director of Customs argued that the computerization of the customs system, “provides more security, more easily and more serenity.” “Because it will happen at a time when the importer before the machine can place any clearance sequences from the recording of the manifest until obtaining his goods, all payments, That is to say, customs payments at the bank, etc. The importer or the operator alone in his office can do these transactions safely, “he said. For this year, the WCO has chosen to reflect on the digital customs for a progressive commitment. By doing it, WCO invites its members to reflect on the IT tools and automated environment to set up for automated customs procedures that must be computerized to improve the business environment, but also for faster transaction processing. This day will be marked by several activities in Senegal, under the aegis and under the chairmanship of the Minister of Economy and Finance. First, there will be a call to arms, then a decoration ceremony, and finally, some reflection. Mariama Diémè Source :
